Government Reports, Personal Interviews

Government Report:

  • The specific agency responsible for the report is the author. 
  • The name(s) of parent agencies appear in the source element as the publisher. 
  • See Group Authors tab under the Citation Elements section for more information.  
Name of Group/Government Agency. (Date). Title of report. Publisher Name. https://doi.org.xxx  OR https://xxx

Example:

National Institute on Drug Abuse. (2018). Opioid facts for teens. U.S. Department of Health and Human

     Services, National Institutes of Health. https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/opioid-facts-teens 

⇒ In-text parenthetical citation: (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2018)

⇒ In-text narrative citation: National Institute on Drug Abuse (2018)

(Hint:  Do not use highlighting in your reference list.)

Personal Interview: 

  • This is an interview you conducted yourself and have not published elsewhere.
  • Do not include the interview on the References page.
  • Cite in-text only.
Initial(s) and surname of communicator (personal communication, Month day, year)
Example:

⇒ In-text narrative citation: In speaking with S. Smith (personal communication, March 21, 2015) he stated…

⇒ In-text parenthetical citation: (S. Smith, personal communication, March 21, 2015)

Published Interview:

  • If you’ve simply read an interview conducted by someone else, you should pick the reference format appropriate for the source. For an interview you found online, for example, you’d want to follow citing a web page.
