ARTS 171: Painting I (Halbrooks)

This guide will assist students in Nancy Halbrooks' class in the preparation of their research papers and oral presentations on "The Old Masters."

Assignment Details

The 3-5 page paper, written in MLA format, will include:

  1. a brief biography of the artist
  2. a description of the movement or larger school to which the artist belonged (i.e. For Mary Cassat, a description of the Impressionist movement and American Impressionism)
  3. specifics about the artist's technical style/techiques; watercolors? oils? other specifics?

Goals for this session

To that end, this session will focus on how to use the Arts 171 LibGuide to

  1. find books (minimum of 2) in the LCCC and OhioLink catalogs and eBook locations 
  2. find articles (minimum of 2) from trustworthy research databases [Only ONE Internet site may be used.]
  3. find/create the citations for these books and articles in MLA format
