Here are some notable changes between the Sixth and Seventh editions of the APA Manual:
- Use one space after a period at the end of a sentence.
- Student papers do not require running heads.
- Do not include city or state for publishers in the source element for a book.
- List up to and including 20 authors in a reference.
- All in-text citations for works with three or more authors use only the first author's name plus et al.
- All DOIs begin with https://doi.org/xxxx; add the prefix to a DOI if it is not there.
- If there is no DOI for a journal article, etc., from a database, DO NOT use a URL, permalink or database name. Treat it as a print source.
- What's new in the seventh edition Publication Manual from the APA Style Blog is a good source.
