On Display: Water, Water Everywhere

by Bethany Miller on 2025-07-03T11:20:56-04:00 | 0 Comments

With simmering summer temperatures, a book display about water seemed appropriate.  We depend on water for drinking, for cooking, for food, for fun, and for life.  Sadly, though, we haven't always taken care of our waterways.  Did you know that the Cuyahoga River burned not only in 1969 (which drove legislation that became the Clean Water Act in 1972), but 13 times (numbers vary) in total!  Happily, the river and connecting Lake Erie are in better shape today.

The display's title Water, Water Everywhere comes from the Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.  The poem is included in this display, and can also be read online at Project Gutenberg
