Mental Health: Addressing the Challenges & Opportunities Through a Culture of Care

Pat McCaslin

Pat has been an adjunct faculty member at LCCC since 1993 and has been teaching Human Relations topics including Crisis Intervention, Special Populations, and Autism since the mid 1980’s.  She is here today to introduce us to a class called Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), which is currently taught in 27 countries worldwide.

The Lorain County Mental Health Addiction Recovery Services Board (MHARS) asked a few of the county’s mental health advocates to be trained by the National Council of Wellbeing in Mental Health First Aid, Pat being one of them.   She is also certified as a Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator by CIT International and presents on a wide range of topics in our local CIT programs.

Pat has served on the boards of Lorain County NAMI and Gathering Hope House and has been awarded the “Champion of the Year” by NAMI for her dedication and work in the field of mental health.
