Commodore Conversations is a forum for our campus to engage in a day of dialogue. Our focus this year is Mental Health, with a third of the United States now reporting symptoms of either depression, anxiety or other Mental Health concerns, we will take a deeper look into this topic and discuss ways to manage our own experiences or learn tips on how to assist others.
We hope to engage students, leadership, faculty and staff in a facilitated and meaningful conversation on student and workplace mental health. The Conversation will include: a keynote presentation, mental health first aid training, table discussions, and student voice videos throughout the day.
Participants will:
- Learn about mental health and the impact on college student well-being and success
- Be able to identify on-campus resources for mental health
- Increase understanding of mental health inequities
- Explore opportunities to be an ally for those experiencing mental health challenges
