This guide was created to celebrate women writers local to Cleveland, Lorain County, and nearby areas in NE Ohio in honor of Women's History Month, March 2025. It serves to complement a Bass Library book display on the same theme.

Stephanie Ginese, winner of the 2023 Cleveland Arts Prize, is a writer and comedian from South Lorain, Ohio. She is the daughter of a Puerto Rican mother & an Italian immigrant father. She lives in Cleveland, by the lake, with her two children. This is her debut poetry book.
Ali Black is a writer from Cleveland, Ohio. She is the author of the poetry chapbook If It Heals At All (Jacar Press, 2020). The book was selected by Jaki Shelton Green for the New Voices Series and named a finalist for the 2021 Ohioana Book Award in poetry.
Alyssa Perry is a writer, editor, and teacher from Iowa. Perry is poetry editor at the Cleveland Review of Books and an editor at the small press publisher Rescue Press. She lives in Ohio and teaches at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Rita Dove was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 28, 1952. A poet and writer, she was a high school Presidential Scholar and graduated with a BA in English from Miami University of Ohio in 1973.
