InterLibrary Loan

What is InterLibrary Loan?

What is Interlibrary Loan?
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is the borrowing and lending of books and other materials between libraries.

LCCC Library Interlibrary Loan is committed to supporting academic research by:

  • borrowing materials not available in the LCCC Library;
  • scanning and delivering articles electronically;
  • lending LCCC materials to other university and community college libraries, public libraries, and commercial libraries.

The LCCC Library Interlibrary Loan services procures book/media loans and high-quality copies of documents (primarily journal articles) from materials NOT OWNED by or available at the Bass Library.

ILL FAQ

Is there a fee?
There is no charge for the use of LCCC Interlibrary Loan services. However, there are costs associated with the process of receiving materials from other institutions, such as labor, photo duplication, copyright compliance, and postage and handling. Please only request materials you need.

How long will it take for my request to be processed?
When requesting an item through OhioLINK (ILL for print books and other physical items), most materials will arrive at the LCCC Library within 3 to 5 working days. However, if the requested item is on hold at the owning library, your request will be fulfilled when the item is available. Generally, a request for an article will be processed within 24 hours, and the requested material should arrive within 2 to 7 working days. This time frame may vary as processing time is determined by the lending institution's resources.

Can journal articles be delivered electronically?
Journal articles are delivered electronically unless you specify pickup at the Circulation Desk. The article will be delivered to your LCCC student email account. LCCC or University Partnership staff and faculty requests are also sent via email, but office delivery may be requested.

Can I borrow textbooks through ILL?
Textbooks not held at the LCCC Library can be requested through OhioLINK. OhioLINK books are checked out for 6 weeks and may be renewed 6 times for LCCC students, faculty and staff, 3 times for community borrowers, if there are no holds for the book. You may also visit the About Textbooks and Course Reserves LibGuide

How will I know when my requested material arrives?
You will be contacted through your LCCC email account. LCCC or University Partnership staff and faculty may request phone notification or office delivery.
